#4722 AdminSpot.net Backlink Booster 1.0

Posted by Hyperz on 26 December 2010 - 03:13 AM

This little tool will loop trough 1.000's of links (115k+ to be exact), adding a backlink to your domain in most cases. This makes it a very handy SEO tool. Just click a button, sit back and relax cool.gif. It should go without saying that this will take a long time to complete so it's one of those things you'll want to run over night or something.

#12598 AdminSpot.net Content Spinner 1.2

Posted by Hyperz on 18 April 2011 - 07:07 AM

- What is it?

Pretty simple. You paste text in the top text box and click the Spin Content button.
It'll then copy the text to the bottom text box but the text will be rephrased (see screenshot).

- Who should use it and why?

Obviously everyone can use it if they want to. But the main target audience is people running so called content farms (sites who mass copy/paste content from other sites and generate money out of ads by the traffic that content generates). Recently Google made some changes in their search engine to punish (lower placement in the search results) such sites by detecting duplicate content. Because this tool changes the text, it's no longer a direct copy paste and thus Google will rank it as unique content. And best of all: it's free. Similar SEO tools cost money.

- Limitations.

Because of the way this "spins" the text, some words might get wrongly positioned or replaced with words that don't make that much sense in the context of the sentence. For a content farm that's not much of an issue. But for other sites it's not that great. Unless you fix the typos after spinning it. Which still saves you a lot of time compared to rewriting it yourself. There's also a 1500 character limit per spin at the moment. This is an external limitation which I might look into later.

- Screenshots:

Posted Image

Big thanks to DeLeTeD, he was the one that came up with the idea (again) and asked me to write an app to do it. I'll update the program so that multiple "spin" methods can be selected which might improve the end result if it gets enough users.

- Update 1.1:

Added the ability to choose from 6 spin methods. The first two methods (EFE, EGE) will stay relatively close to the original text while the last method (ECSE) is much more aggressive and should not be used if you want people to be able to read it (perfect for Googlebot though).

- Update 1.2:
Added a workaround for the terms of service abuse issue which resulted in not getting a result when spinning the text.
Enabled gzip compression. I heard the FBI likes gzip, and it seems they do. Also: improved response times on slow connections.
Added request randomization to mask the fact that a bot is using their Skynetz.

To download this file you need to be logged in. If you don't have an account yet you can register here.

#16938 Adminspot DDL (ASDDL)

Posted by Gigawatt on 31 May 2011 - 09:06 PM

Heya guys, some of you already know but some of you probably don't, but over the past few weeks i have been working very very hard in creating a high end DDL Engine, and I can confirm were coming to the end of the road soon, there are only a few things left to do that should take no longer then a few week's (Maybe a little longer as im going on holiday on the 7th)

Think of the way DDL sites work. If you want to run a DDL site you have to have some basic knowledge of coding. You have to be able to edit core php files to make it all do what you want and this can really affect your server load and site speed if you get busy.

Well this is like taking the way IPB or wordpress works and applying it to DDL sites. It's a far more complicated script that allows you to add different themes, plugins and features and you don't have to go editing the main core files or have coding knowledge.

It will all make running a DDL site far more easier, accessible and most importantly enjoyable.

Advanced Talk:
ASDDL Is a Model-View-Controller based framework, split up into 2 major components, the main component is called ASF (Adminspot Framework) which is the base of the system in which the DDL Application Runs, This is in control of setting up and managing the routing of requests, as well as the database, libraries, configuration and template engine.

Basically ASF Will read the current request from the client, mainly the URL it is requesting and then parse it, take a look at the following:

  • /categories/browse/movies/4

  • categories
  • browse

  • movies
  • 4

    [/list]
This is basically how ASF Breaks the request up, the first segment (categories) is the controller, the second is the method and the latter 2 (movies and 4) are the values passed, this basically routes to a controller file associated with the request so the following class will be loaded:

/srv/www/htdocs/system/applications/frontend/controllers/categories.php

Which will contain the class that matches the file as well as the method

class Controller_categories extends BaseController

{

    public function browse($category = '',$page = 1)

    {

        echo 'Hello World From: http://asddl.com/categories/browse/movies/4';

    }

}

This routing system will allow you to simple extend your website fast and easy, ok so enough about the MVC Part of things, let's move on.

The Application is the second layer in the system, aka the applications, you can have as many applications as you want all sharing the same system layer, meaning you do an update to the system and every one of your sites will all be patched (WOW) .. I Know..

The DDL System upon launch will just be as basic as any other ddl system out there, were not going to be pushing lot's of features as most of the them will be un-used, but because of the way the system is designed, you can simple change things around with a breeze and 10 lines of code.

the system is fully template able and comes with a simple yet powerful partial inclusion system to help you split your design up into reusable components, here is the index main template file:

<?php $this->partial('doctype') ?>

<html>

    <?php $this->partial("head"); ?>

    <body>

		<?php $this->partial("header"); ?>

		<?php $this->partial("sub_header"); ?>

        <section id="body">

            <section id="body-main">

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/main/downloads"); ?>

				<?php if(isset($this->pagination) && $this->pagination != ''): ?>

				<div class="box minimal-padding">

					<?php echo $this->pagination ?>

				</div>

				<?php endif; ?>

            </section>

            <section id="body-sidebar">

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/sidebar/navigation"); ?>

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/sidebar/popular_downloads"); ?>

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/sidebar/latest_searches"); ?>

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/sidebar/webmasters"); ?>

				<?php $this->partial("boxes/sidebar/sponsors"); ?>

            </section>

        </section>

		<?php $this->partial("footer"); ?>

    </body>

</html>

As you can see that all the template code is written in PHP causing no loss in performance but it is designed to be as simple as any other template parsing system out there.

There is still some work to be done but as a sneak peak at the front end, below is a screenshot to show you the kind of system you will be getting.

Posted Image
Posted Image

The administration panel is nearly complete but for the mean time im going to leave the image out as there may be a redesign yet to commence, i hope your all looking forward to the system and trying it out, I will keep you posted on any major updates.

As this system was developed mainly for Adminspot the system belongs to you as such, so if you have any ideas or anything you want to say in regards to ASDDL then please have your say below.

Regards :)

#9997 Moving Forward

Posted by Guest on 25 March 2011 - 04:56 PM

Hey folks -
I wanted to take a little time to post a formal introduction to everyone at Admin Spot. I'll be the newest member to the administration team here and will be taking on a major roll & large chunk of responsibilities for this site. I'll be doing nearly all normal admin duties, site and member administration and will be working towards having the site continue to grow in size and popularity (hopefully lol).

For those of you who don't know me I come from a former tight-knit team of talented folks that ran a large network of very successful sites. I also have experience in running a similar webmaster community. I'd like to bring some of my experiences and whatever useful knowledge I have here to help the community grow.

For those of you who do know me, great. To avoid any issues or potential pissing matches I won't be answering any questions (now, later, or ever) related to anything I may have been a part of in the past (teams, websites, or otherwise). I'm not here to compete or cause any problems with any other people or sites. I'm here to help the members of this community with whatever they need and to help the community grow into a solid, strong site.

This will help new members understand most things on the forum.

Lets start with the basics, you cannot do any of these things on the forum, If you do not understand the rules, read this thread, it gives you an explanation on each rule.

  • Multiple Accounts
  • Flaming
  • Discrimination
  • Spamming
  • Misleading Content
  • Bumping Threads
  • Ripping Content
  • Trolling
  • Referrals

How can you help the forum? There are many things to do, but I'll name the basics things, that will help big time.

Reporting posts/threads: This allows the post/thread to be shown in the staff section, so that moderators will be able to take note about it, and easily solve the problem.

It can be found at the bottom of the posts, it will look like this:

#16037 Developing applications in IPB

Posted by Gigawatt on 24 May 2011 - 10:19 AM

This is a guide that will help you discover how to create applications that run inside IPB, for this guide I will be using IPB3.

Tip: You should always develop applications on a fresh install.

Firstly we need to create the application directory structure, to do this you will need to navigate to the application_addon direct located in the administration folder, on my development install it's located:

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon

and then we need to go into the folder called *other*, so you should be in the following location:

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon/other

So now were in there we need to chose an application name, this name should just be one word all lower case, for the purpose of this guide were going to call it sample, so create a folder called sample and then navigate to it, we should now be located in the following directory

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon/other/other/sample

For an application to work it needs to have a set of folders and a set of files, so were going to need to create the following directories :

  • extentions
  • modules_admin
  • modules_public
  • setup
  • skin_cp
  • tasks
  • xml

These folders are used for the following:

extentions
This will contain extension files to plug your application into other areas of the board such as the user control panel, search and userʼs location on the online list.

modules_admin
This will contain the source files for your applicationʼs admin modules.

modules_public
This will contain the source files for your applicationʼs public modules.

setup
This will contain the SQL data needed to install your application.

skin_cp
This will contain skin data for the Admin CP section of your application.

tasks
This will contain the source files for any tasks your application needs.

xml
This will contain XML files containing data such as language and skin data.

OK so you should now understand the directory structure, there is one more file we have to create that will act as an initialization file, this will be loaded before the application is executed and is used to set up an of the environment such as including classes / functions, checking permissions for the user etc etc, this should be in the root of your application folder and should be named like so:

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon/other/other/sample/app_class_{app_name}

you would change {app_name} to the name of the folder for the application, in our case it's `sample`

The contents for that file will be pretty simple as for this guide there will be no need to take advantage of this feature but we will add it in there anyway to make sure that it's available in the feature if changes need to be made.

the contents of this file should be a class that's named the same as the file name, so: app_class_sample, as shown below:

[syntax=php]<?php
class app_class_sample
{
    public function __construct()
    {
        //Pre-load here
    }
}[/syntax]

Now we need to add the application icon, to do this we need a 16x16 icon in the format of PNG, this will be located within the skin_cp folder and will be called appicon.png, for perposes of this guide were just going to use the google favicon: Posted Image

ok so now the next step is to create the information files in regards to the application, so that IPB know's information such as developer, version, update url etc, within the XML folder we need to create an XML file called information.xml within the XML directory, the contents of this file will be like so:

[syntax=xml]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<information>
<data>
<name>Sample Application</name>
<public_name>Sample</public_name>
<author>Gigawatt @ Adminspot.com</author>
<description>A sample application to help further educate the users of adminspot in regards to application development with IPB</description>
<templategroups>
<template match="exact">skin_sample</template>
</templategroups>
<hide_tab>0</hide_tab>
</data>
</information>
[/syntax]

Most of this XML is self explanatory, if your not aware of XML structure there is plenty of information on google that will help you learn more, the only think that I will point out is that the skin_name need's should start with skin_ followed by your application name, this should be set to exact until you have learnt more in depth about the template engine.

Within the same directory we need to create another file called versions.xml, this is used to track the version of the application and the contents should look rather like so:

[syntax=xml]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<versions>
    <version>
        <human>1.0.0 Sample 1</human>
        <long>10001</long>
    </version>
</versions>
[/syntax]

Once this is completed we can now install that application via the Administration Panel, go to Admin CP > System > Applications & Modules and you will see your sample application un-installed, you can now click install and let it go threw the installation process, once this is completed go back to Admin CP > System > Applications & Modules so you can see your application has been installed.

now the application has been installed we need to create the modules required, but before we do that we need to enable DEVELOPER_MODE, so that we can export them when were finished, to enable developer go to the your ipb root folder and open the file called conf_global.php.

within file your looking for the following line of code:

[syntax=php]define('IN_DEV', 0);[/syntax]

we need to change the 0 for a 1 to mark the ipb installation as in dev mode, like so:

[syntax=php]define('IN_DEV', 1);[/syntax]

after this is completed you may not be able to access your front end as your in developer mode, and if you was running on a live board this would be a security precaution , now you can go back to your ACP and go to the application, you will see a small down arrow to the right of the sample application, clicking that will bring up the sub-menu where you can click manage PUBLIC Modules.

Within the new screen you will see that there are no public modules available, so we need to create one, click the button neer the top right that says: Add New Public Module

Within here we can specify setting about the frontend module, i have already filled this out for you so you can go ahead and copy my values into the correct area:

Module Type: public
Module Title: Public Module
Module Description: Public Module
Module Key: main
Module Version: 1.0.0
Module Enabled: Yes
Module Protected No

and then click the button that says, Add New Module, now the module is created in IPB but it's not available within the application directory, so we need to export it to there, within Manage Public Modules click the button that says Export All as XML, this will start a download of an xml file called sample_modules.xml, this file need's to be placed in the directory called XML.

Ok so now we have a public module, we need to create the actual module files now, if you remember above i said that when creating the the module within the ACP the module key should be main, well this key specifies the folder for that, so we need to create a folder called main within the public_modules directory like so:

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon/other/other/sample/public_modules/main

This is the default module for the public interface, you can create many modules but it will get complicated so you will have to learn how to do that another time, for now were going to keep things simple.

We now need to create a file called defualtSection.php to tell IPB what section of the module to load if the user has not specifically requiested a section, this file belongs in the public_modules/main/ directory like so:

/var/www/ipb/admin/applications_addon/other/other/sample/public_modules/main/defualtSection.php

[syntax=php]
<?php

$DEFAULT_SECTION = 'index';
[/syntax]

you will notice the value if DEFAULT_SECTION is index, this tells IPB to laid the file called index.php in the same directory, so were going to have to create that file.

create the file called index.php and within this file we need to create a class that IPB routing system can execute to class name is pretty much the same as the directory structure, by that i mean it follows the following naming convention: {type}_{app}_{module}_{section}, see below for explanation:

Type > public / admin
App > Application Name
Module > Current Module Name
Section > Current section name

Looking at that our class should be named public_sample_main_index, so if you haven't already create the index.php file within the main directoy do so now, and the contents of the file should look like this:

[syntax=php]
<?php

class public_sample_main_index extends ipsCommand
{
    public function doExecute( ipsRegistry $registry )
    {
         /*In Context*/
    }
}
[/syntax]

OK so now the explanation of the parent class and the method, the class has to extend ipsCommand so that it can inherit certain data from the IPS Kernal, so that you always have to extend the ipsCommand, and the class should always have one method called doExecute that IPB uses to fire your application, also known as an entry point.

you will also notice that there is an object being passed in called ipsRegistry, this is the heart of IPB and has pretty much everything attached to it, such as Cache, template, output, Security, Config etc.

So now we have this class created we can display some content to the screen to show the application is working, were going to add 3 lines to the doExecute method, the first line is to set hte page title and we do that like so:

[syntax=php]$registry->output->setTitle("Sample Application");[/syntax]

the next line is to add some content to the body of the template and we do that like so:

[syntax=php]$registry->getClass('output')->addContent("this is some 'Sample' content");[/syntax]

and the next line is to send the content to the user and close the connection down, to do that we use the following command:

[syntax=php]$registry->getClass('output')->sendOutput();[/syntax]

after the following lines have been added in the order they were describe we should have a file looking like so:

[syntax=php]
<?php

class public_sample_main_index extends ipsCommand
{
    public function doExecute( ipsRegistry $registry )
    {
         /*In Context*/
         $registry->output->setTitle("Sample Application");
         $registry->getClass('output')->addContent("this is some 'Sample' content");
         $registry->getClass('output')->sendOutput();
    }
}
[/syntax]

OK so our application should be working now, but before we test it we need to turn DEV mode of, changing the 1 back to a 0 in conf_global.php is how we do this, once this is done by going to your home page of your board you will see the tab appear called "Sample", this is your newly created application.

by clicking the tab your should see a page that has a different title as well as some sample content on the page.

Hope this has helped you understand Applications in IPB and there should be more guides coming as soon as I have some spare time.

Thanks for reading :)

#12255 Take Control of Google

Take Control of Google

Type: Article/Tutorial
Difficulty: Medium
SEO Benefit:  High

This is going to be a long one. I don’t intent to give you direct tips, tricks or suggestions of what to do to your site but more change your way of thinking towards search engines and how they see your website to help you make informed decisions related to your website.

If you’re you looking for more basic and general tips with regard to your SEO then check out my How To SEO a Warez Site Tutorial

I’ll use Google as an example throughout this article but the same principles apply to all Search Engines. I’ll also use Movies as an example of a forum on a warez site but again it could be anything.
Let’s first look at how real visitors visit and how they possibly navigate your website.

Visitors from DDL sites go straight to the download page and then usually leave. If you lucky they’ll view one to two other pages.

Visitors from Google usually arrive straight on a download page or topic. Most leave after viewing this page but with some viewing a few random pages too such as the index.
Direct Visitors are usually made up by regular members. These follow a different pattern to DDL and organic visitors in that they usually arrive on the index. An example of a path for them is Index >> Movies >> Topic >> Leave or Back to Movies >> another topic >> Leave.  Looking at the amount of pages direct visitors view you can see they are far more desirable and why Warez-BB is such a strong busy site.
As you can see most of these visitors rarely view more than ten pages. Anyone that is viewing more than ten pages is most likely a close friend or a staff member. Websites are usually designed in a vertical fashion leading visitors from the index down to topics. Navigation back to other options is difficult. If you think about your site if you’re viewing a movie topic how big or obvious is the button back to the movies. At best it’s probably a small text link in the breadcrumbs. You have to make it easier and more obvious for visitors to drive them to where you want them to go when their viewing a topic. When in this situation most take advantage of their browser back button but your relying on outside help to aid your navigation.

Let’s now look at search engines.
These are completely different in that you want them to view hundreds of pages on your site before leaving. While real visitors tend to use a vertical path through you’re site from the index down to the topics you want search engines to follow a more linear path going from topic to topic rather than having to return to the index or menu list.

If you look at the index of your site a visitor is presented with lots of options of where to go to work their way down through the site but when on a topic there are very few options of going to another topic. Unlike real visitors Google doesn’t have a browser back button and therefore reaches a dead end in your site. It’s only alternative is to follow a link to a page it’s already seen only a few seconds ago. This doesn’t interest Google as it’s looking for new content on your website to index rather than having to return to pages it’s seen several times.

Let’s look more at a typical topic and how it’s designed for real visitors and your options of where to go next.
  • Reply – leads to login page which is another dead end
  • New Topic – leads to login page which is another dead end
  • Register – no use.
  • Login – no use.
  • Topic posters profile (members profile) – either a login page or a page with stats that’s not going to bring traffic
  • Home – return to a page it’s already seen
  • Movies – return to a page it’s already seen
  • Link Exchanges x 10 – leave the site completely
  • Other Navigation Buttons – FAQ, Contact Us, Members List, Search (a form Google can’t use) etc. All useless.

These appear on every topic and make it incredibly difficult for Google to find new content to index. Almost every link you present is designed for real visitors or returns them to content they’ve already seen.

Now back to the title of this article: “Take Control of Google”. You should examine your website and start taking control of Google and what and where you want him to see next. Add nofollow links to things that are of no interest and instead present options of content you want indexed. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Use the Google Webmaster Tools and under Diagnostics >> Crawl Stats keep track of roughly how many pages Google is crawling. If you give it the opportunity and chance to crawl more pages it will. It goes without saying that if your pages aren’t indexed they can’t bring you traffic.

Now that you’ve started on that also look at how obvious these other links are. A huge big REGISTER NOW banner is of no use. Having links to other content is of no use if it’s not giving any weight. What I mean by this is having a Login button with a <h> tag and a link to other content you want indexed hidden away in the footer or using a <small> tag. You spend lots of time and energy on fancy graphics and images which let’s be honest brings fcuk all members. Look at your source code and examine what link has what tag. What links have <h> tags and what number of a <h> tag. Are any links in bold? Do image links have title or alt attributes?

Trust me that if you reorganise your internal links and navigation you’re organic traffic will surge. These are all things you’re in full control of and by doing some of the simple techniques and experimenting with them you can control Google way more easily than you’d think.

In a final note be careful of people that offer SEO services. In reality most are noob’s attempts to earn money who barely know the basics.

Best of luck.

#13867 Frequently Asked Questions

Posted by Gigawatt on 02 May 2011 - 11:54 AM

What kind of questions can I ask here?
Adminspot was built to provide support for webmasters in general, regardless of what type of site you run, our community will try and support you in the best way.

If your question is related in any way to web development and management or application development and management then you're in the right place.

We also have a dedicated category called "General Discussion" for any other questions that do not meet the criteria above.

What kind of questions should I not ask here?
If your question may cause the harm to others feelings or beliefs, then your question would not be welcome, although we belive that you have the right to "discuss" topics on religion, please be careful in the nature of the conversation.

questions that fall into any of the categories below are usually frowned upon:

  • Adult Material
  • Illegal discussions that break the law in any way (regardless of your locality)
  • Questions that speak down about other religions or beliefs.

Be nice.
Be polite to other member's, we are all here to share our knowledge and learn, try and be tolerant to other members, and if there any problem's you can report the member to staff with proof of their actions and appropriate action will be taken.

Note: The administration / moderation team hold the right to place temporary / permanent bans on member without the need to provide an explanation.

Be Honest
When we say honest, we mean you should not willingly mislead any of the community, if yo are unaware that your passing on incorrect information, we understand that we all make mistakes, but if found that your attempting to mislead member's knowingly, disciplinary action will be taken.

Do I have to log in or create an account?
No, you do not need an account to browse the forum, although when browsing you will not be able to take full advantages of the features registered users have access to, such as:

  • Reputation Systems
  • Events & competitions
  • Replying to threads
  • Creating threads
  • Using the shoutbox
  • And many more

How do I ask questions here?

Title: The title should be as descriptive as possible, please try and keep your title to a full sentence if possible, example: if you have a topic about securing "Linux", don't make your title "Linux" or "Securing Linux", please use a full sentence such as "How can i secure my Linux machine".

Content: Please explain in detail what the problem is, questions that simply have one sentence and does not explain fully what the problem / query is that your having, usually will get down voted and you may lose reputation for this.

We would appreciate it if every topic created has at least 2 paragraphs within it, this is to help the users get a better understanding of what your asking, also do not be afraid to expand into a question that contains 20 or more paragraphs, we all enjoy reading.

When posting questions here, other members will see it within seconds, and you will usually get a reply with a matter of minutes  so be sure to keep an eye on your thread or you can click the "Watch Topic" button to get email and notification alert's.

After posting your question you may see changes within the structure of your question, please don't worry about this, one of the team members may be fixing little grammar issues, making the thread layout more readable etc.

If a member has replied to your question and that reply has helped you resolve your issue, please say thank you by giving his reply a plus vote.

You will also need to take note of all the sections available to you, which are all visible on the front page, you must make sure that you find the most relevant category to post your question, fail to do so on a repetitive basis may result in a  warning.

For any other questions that do not fit a specific category can be asked within the "General Discussion" category.

If your question is in regards to the website itself, you can ask the question in the "Feedback | Suggestions | Support" section of our Forum

Posting content from other sources?
Although we prefer you to write your own content in your own words, we know that sometimes it's much easier to copy content's from other sites that would explain what your question is about.

If this is the case we have two rules that you should always follow:

  • Make sure you always citate the work of others
  • Use the the quote feature provided provided, example below:

Prime purpose of a citation is intellectual honesty: to attribute prior or unoriginal work and ideas to the correct sources, and to allow the reader to determine independently whether the referenced material supports the author's argument in the claimed way.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citation

What is reputation?
Reputation is used for several factors within AdminSpot. It helps other users decide between a good answer and a bad answer. It also act's as a ranking system, showing which users are most active, and who know their stuff and / or been here a long while. As your spend more time here you will gain reputation by being helpful, and providing good quality answers.

Why are some questions closed?
Questions are closed because they fail to meet the requirements of the FAQ or Rules of AdminSpot, if the question is poor, racist or contains any other form of dis-respect for other members or people feelings or beliefs.

Questions also may be closed as they are duplicates, if this happen's then then question may be redirected to to the the question which is most applicable.

Other people can edit my stuff?!
There are selected member's that can edit your threads, this is so that we make sure that the question / answer abides by the FAQ & Rules of Adminspot, the chosen members will be trusted member's of the community to help monitor the going's on within the forum

May I promote products or websites I am affiliated with here?
This is a tricky subject, if the content is blatant spam, or leads any of the moderation team to believe it is spam, then your question may be deleted, if the question is legitimately about your product or website, and it's relevant for the link to be posted in order for the community to help you, then this is perfectly fine.
